Are you ready for Mother’s Day? To be honest this year has been moving so fast, I almost forgot it was this weekend. How do you like to celebrate? For me it’s probably by doing nothing. No dishes, no schedules, no obligations, just time with my kids or without- relaxing. But if you’re into movies there are a lot of classics out there that may be fun to revisit with your family on this Mother’s Day.
This morning I just finished a segment for The Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda! Live in LA from the set of The Voice. How cool is that? It was super fun to be on the set and with a live studio audience.
Joined by fellow REEL MOMS- Fandango Mom Tara Mc Namara and Handy Ma’am Janell Inez we talked about some of our favorites. Click here for link if on mobile.
*Note to parents-I love Brave’s Merida character-her focus is not to find a prince charming, but find herself and her independence. But some of the fighting and bear scenes may be intense for young kids. While Annie is a super fun movie, it’s so 80’s. When I was little it probably went right over my head, but the film has some smoking, drinking and sexually suggestive behavior from Carol Burnett’s character that you may have to address if watching with younger kids. Also Joy Luck club is a heartwarming soulful movie, but filled with intense tragedy especially in the China flashbacks that may be more suited for older teen-agers.
A few other REEL Mom picks are Freaky Friday, Mamma Mia, and Steel Magnolias. Check out Tara’s in -depth reviews here.
