Summer indulgence and a sluggish body inspired me to get back on track with healthy eating. Over the summer I had a few too many foodie meals and scoops of ice cream and not enough veggies. You know I’m a big fan of green juice and fan of an occasional juice cleanse if it’s done for the right reasons. I do it because I could never eat that many vegetables on my own and it makes feel so healthy it reminds me to notice what I put into my body again. If you’re a TZM reader you know I’ve done a cleanse that I juiced myself and I also like Ritual Cleanse. But last week I was excited to try the Detox Lounge 3 day Juice Cleanse.
8am-Awaken-Carrot, pineapple, green apple, orange, grapefruit and lemon juice. (This one is sweet and citrusy to get you going in the morning. I liked it, but if you don’t like rich juices you’ll definitely want some water to go with it.)
10am-Energize-Green Apple, Cucumber, Celery, Spinach, Kale, Mint, Collard (This is like a lot of the green juices out there and the one I usually make. Greens with apple to make it tasty and slightly sweet. But what was different was the mint, you could taste it and it gave it a little refreshing kick.)
Noon-Fuel-Cucumber, Celery, Spinach, Romaine, Green Bell Pepper, Fennel, Kale, Parsley, Lemon ( This one is like a salad in a bottle, but not bitter as you would think straight greens would be. Just a mellow clean taste. I liked it because it different than the 10 am. It is not sweet at all.)
2pm-Motivate -Carrot, Green Apple, Cucumber, Beet (This one is super sweet to get your body going. By 2 most days I was getting hungry and really need this to get me over the afternoon slump.)
4pm-Satisfy -Cucumber, Green Apple, Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, Grapefruit (Another green juice, but a slight variation with the grapefruit.)
6pm-Restore -Carrot , Cucumber, Red Bell Pepper, Sweet Potato, Beet, Ginger, Lime (This one tasted like having soup for dinner, no fruit so more savory which made you feel like you were having dinner. Interesting blend with hint of sweetness from the carrot.)
Obviously you don’t have to drink it exactly at those times, but it gives you a good guideline.
I didn’t workout during this cleanse and confession I did have some avocado-and a few bites of salad. I felt like I needed to get a little protein to keep going. I liked the taste of the juices and the variety of different flavors so you weren’t having the same juice 4 times a day.
So people have been asking me did it work? Depends on what you mean? Many people probably want to know if I lost weight. I’m sure I did, but I didn’t weigh myself because once I eat again it will probably come back. I didn’t do it to lose weight I did it to feel good. So yes, it worked. I feel good and have been eating much less and healthier. It’s been 6 days since I finished the cleanse and my body feels lighter and my skin feels fresh. I’m having more veggies and smaller meals. Now it’s up to me to keep it up.
