Laughter: Times Square Dunk Tank-Can You Find Me?

A few weeks ago on the last day of my New York trip I decided to walk through Times Square on a Sunday morning before heading to the airport.  As I reach the center right near the Tkts booth I noticed dozens of people staring at a billboard, laughing, taking pictures, and tweeting.  What is going on I thought?  As I look up I see this! This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen. It’s called the Times Square Dunk Tank.   It’s a billboard with a live webcam where the media is you!  You vote via Twitter to dunk the man or the woman and then as a crowd you work together to slap a virtual beach ball to hit the target sending them into the water. Can you find me?

Yes, I’m a total dork and had to take a picture just like everyone else.  In case you’re wondering? Hint Hint!  Find the blond and the arrow 🙂

It’s social meets live meets mobile meets interactive media.  It’s from the folks at Clear Channel and they are calling it “Crowd Play Media”-so far it’s only in NY, but who knows it maybe coming to you next!

Here’s a YouTube video if you want to see how it works.  Happy Friday!  What do you think? Cool or too Big Brotherish?

  1. This is easily the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while. Love the concept of connecting online/offline actions and driving crowds to participate and interact with each other like this. Thanks for sharing!
