I used to think people who did juice fasts, cleanses whatever you want to call them were crazy. I love food, how can I not eat for 3 or 5 days? I believe in moderation, but I also believe in clean healthy eating and with my recent vacation, kids birthday parties, etc. I was neither moderate or clean with my diet. I was feeling a little overindulgent and it was time to get back on track.
I have green juice (apple, kale, spinach, celery, lemon etc.) all the time, but usually only as a complement to food. I’ve also done a cleanse before, but juiced it myself and have decided it’s just too much work for me.
There are lots of juice cleanses out there, but I like Ritual Cleanse because it’s organic and I feel like you are getting all the nutrients you need and if not more than your normal diet and you can get it delivered right to your door. I also like it because there are 2 extra juices (Pre and Post Shred) for those who workout. It comes out to about $80 a day for 6 juices and $15 for the Shreds.
This is what was at my doorstep Monday morning. My husband did it with me so we each got an insulated bag packed with ice packs and 3 days of juice. I usually wake up at 6:30 am and my juices were already there waiting for me. I didn’t have to think about breakfast and just started with my first juice.
Here’s what’s in the juices:
1: spinach, romaine, kale, celery, cucumber, green apple, lemon
2: Another green juice, but if you get the Seasonal cleanse which I recommend you get a yummy in season fruit juice (this time it was mango, pineapple, and coconut water). Heavenly!
3: spinach, romaine, kale, celery, cucumber, green apple, ginger
4: filtered water, lemon, agave, cayenne (I loved the sweet and sour spicy taste)
5: spinach, romaine, kale, celery, cucumber, green apple
6: cashew, alkaline water, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, agave (Nice to chew the pieces of cashew-yummy like dessert after a day of green juice.)
pre-shred: carrot, beet, celery, apple, pear (This is very sweet, I usually can’t finish the whole thing. Also drink it with a straw so it doesn’t stain your teeth.)
post-shred: almond, alkaline water, vanilla, cinnamon, agave (super good, great protein after a workout.)
My overall experience was great. I did a 3 day cleanse. I wasn’t really hungry, but since I love to eat, food always sounded good and smelled good so you do have to exercise self control and it’s hard when making food for your kids. I also noticed I eat my kids snacks without even knowing it, so I had to watch that. I even made it through a kid’s birthday party filled with pizza and cake. Otherwise, I loved not having to think about what I was going to eat or do dishes. I just grabbed the next juice. Here I am with my juice at my son’s sports class.
I loved the seasonal juice, it changed things up a bit. You need to drink lots of water in between each juice too so you end up having to use the restroom often. I only ordered shreds for one day because I only worked out once and I actually had a hard time drinking 8 juices in one day and had some left over. The morning after the cleanse I was excited to eat-I was craving guacamole! So now I’m just trying to keep up my diet with more fruits and veggies and less meat!

I’ve been thinking about a cleanse. Between our vacation and my brother’s wedding, we’ve been indulging *a lot* lately. It would be nice to get back on track.
I know there’s always something right? That’s exactly how I felt, but it was time.
