Date night: Cinepolis Del Mar-Movie, Martinis and Cheesecake!

Are you ready for the weekend?  I know it’s not always easy to get a “date night” when you have kids, but I think it’s important to keep your “zen”.  When I get busy I always try to convince myself that hanging out at home watching a movie is just as good.  But admit it, dressing up and going out as a couple like you did before kids is fun!

On this Friday I wanted to show you a cool new movie theatre in San Diego (Del Mar).  It’s called Cinepolis-it’s their first one in the US.  Imagine this-a theatre where they serve you martinis, dinner and dessert in your reclining leather seats. I always hate choosing between going to dinner or a movie, this time we could do both.   It feels like your in someone’s private screening room and the arm even goes up in the middle.

Everyone was laughing like little kids feeling a little awkward to kick up their feet, but hey it was fun!  We watched Horrible Bosses, a little raunchy, but funny.2 of the 8 auditoriums serve alcohol.  Check out my mango martini ($12) and raspberry swirl cheesecake ($9).  Yum.  There’s a service button next to the seat, you order from a waiter and they try to get you served before the movie starts. Here’s a look at the other desserts.I didn’t have any, but the gourmet popcorn looked fun, especially the Zebra (Black and White Chocolate). Here’s the vibe at the restaurant and bar. It’s a little pricey at around $20 a ticket, but it was worth it.    If you live in So Cal they are building another in La Costa, Laguna Niguel is next and they may open 7 more in California.   Is there anything like this near you?

What do you like to do for date night to keep the “zen” alive?

  1. I just saw a movie there, too — such a fun experience! To keep the ‘zen alive,’ I like to plan dates at restaurants I wouldn’t imagine going to with Tate. We recently went to Cucina Urbana in Banker’s Hill. I totally get ‘Carrie fever’ from time to time and like going to restaurants for date night that have a modern, fresh ambience and just an overall sexy feel. Don’t laugh at me!

  2. I was introduced to this place by my boyfriend. He found a coupon for Cinepolis and he decided to take me out to see The Descendants which by the way is a great movie and I totally recommend it.

They have a promo going on at Couponmat. They offer free popcorn with the purchase of a soda. You can print the coupon at http://www.couponmat.com/?p=coupon&id=10304
